SC 01Overview

What it does

These skills live inside Toonflow, an open-source app (desktop, Docker or server) where scripts, assets and video clips sit as nodes on an infinite canvas. The workflow skill takes an idea, a novel excerpt or a locked script and builds script text, character, scene and prop assets and video clips on that canvas, pausing for your approval between stages. Once a script is final and the goal is video, it applies built-in Seedance prompt-director rules after you choose 2.0 or 2.5: a plot-fidelity lock, beat parsing, segment timing, reference binding and continuity checks. A canvas manual, a text-storyboard skill and an MCP skill that lets an outside agent drive a running Toonflow complete the set; all of them assume a Toonflow install, and video generation needs a model service you configure.

SC 02Install

How to install it

  • 01skills CLI, for Claude Code, Codex and others

The open skills CLI from Vercel Labs installs a skill from a GitHub repo into the folder each agent expects. It asks which skills and which agents you want, and it installs for the current project unless you add the -g flag, which installs for your user account. Add --list to see what a repo contains before you install anything.

  • 02Claude Code, skills folder

Copy the skill's folder, the one that holds SKILL.md, into ~/.claude/skills/ to use it in every project on your machine, or into .claude/skills/ in a repository to use it there and share it by committing it. Claude Code picks up changes to these folders during a session. If the folder did not exist when the session started, run /reload-skills.

  • 03Claude Code, plugin marketplace

Some repos publish a plugin marketplace, a .claude-plugin/marketplace.json file. Add it in Claude Code, then install a plugin from it with /plugin install plugin-name@marketplace-name. Plugins can bundle hooks and MCP servers along with skills, so read the details panel before you confirm.

  • 04Codex, skills folder or $skill-installer

Codex reads skills from .agents/skills in your working folder and its parent folders up to the repository root, and from $HOME/.agents/skills for every repository. Copy the skill's folder into one of them, or run $skill-installer inside Codex and ask it to install from the repo. Codex detects new skills automatically and needs a restart only if one does not appear.

We could not quote an install command from this repo's README. The commands listed here are the generic ones for any skill repository and may not apply, so check the README first.

SC 03Guide

How to get the most from it

Good for

  • People already running Toonflow who want an agent to follow a fixed production order on the canvas.
  • Turning a locked script into Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 segment prompts under explicit rules for plot fidelity, timing and continuity between segments.
  • Adapting an idea or novel excerpt into a script, then character, scene and prop assets, before any video is generated.
  • Driving a locally running Toonflow from an outside coding agent over MCP.

Watch out for

  • Not a standalone install: the workflow, canvas and storyboard skills call Toonflow's canvas and node tools, and the repo has no skills-only install for them. They come with the desktop installer or the Docker and server builds. Only the MCP skill is meant to be copied into another agent's skills folder, and it still needs a running Toonflow with MCP switched on in its settings.
  • The instructions are written in Chinese, and the video-prompt rules cover only Seedance 2.0 and 2.5. A script that is ready for video goes straight to the Seedance route, and if your configured node lacks the version you pick, the skill reports the conflict instead of switching models.
  • Generation spends the fees of whichever model services you configure; the skill lays out the plan and asks for approval first. The README's roughly two-minute example lists about ¥130 in model fees, as a reference point only.

Typical workflow

01Step
Install Toonflow (desktop release, Docker or server build), configure text, image and video model services, and open a project workspace and its canvas.
02Step
Say what you have: an idea, a novel excerpt, a finished script, a continuation or a single clip to fix. The skill picks its route from that.
03Step
Review each stage on the canvas, starting with script text and then character, scene and prop assets, including a close-up and front, side and back views for characters, and approve before moving on.
04Step
With a locked script, answer whether the target is Seedance 2.0 or 2.5. The skill splits the script into segments, budgets time, binds reference assets, checks continuity and writes each segment prompt.
05Step
Approve a concrete generation plan covering model, prompts, references and number of runs. The skill starts the video nodes and checks their outputs before treating a clip as done.
06Step
Adopt or revise the clips. Continuing with later episodes picks up from the recorded project state.
